CORBA

CORBA Common Object Request Broker Architecture
is a standard defined by the OMG's (Object Management Group) that enables software components written in multiple computer languages and running on multiple computers to work together i.e. supports multiple platforms.

Using the standard protocol (i.e IIOP), a CORBA based program from any vendor, on almost any computer, OS, programming language and network can inter-operate with a CORBA based program from the same or another vendor,on almost any other Computer, OS, programming language and network.
